A long history guided by the passion for Barolo
The Sordo winery was founded in the early twentieth century. It was 1912 when Giuseppe Sordo, the first generation of the family, began cultivating the vineyard and producing wine in the small hamlet of Garbelletto di Castiglione Falletto.
The turning point came with the arrival of Giovanni Sordo, Giuseppe's son, a man who had the intuition and ability to choose and purchase, starting in the mid-twentieth century, vineyards of great vocation, the famous "surì", suitable for producing wines of great quality and prestige. Giovanni, together with his wife Maria, the historical memory of the Company, expanded the cellar in the Sixties, built the current room dedicated to alcoholic fermentation and the first barrel room dedicated exclusively to the refinement of the prized Barolo, in which he placed large oak barrels with a capacity of 120 hl.
In 2001, following the premature death of Giovanni, his son Giorgio took over the reins of the company. Giorgio, thanks to the teachings and passion passed on by his father, continues the family tradition. Giorgio also continues with the expansion and modernization of the cellar with the intention of creating underground environments ideal for the refinement and conservation of the historic vintages of production.
Today, Mr. Giorgio is supported by his daughter Paola, born in 1999. It should be remembered that the women of the Sordo family have always had a fundamental role, since the company was founded.

The wine production aims to express the value of a territory that has always been suited to wine production. The estates reach a total surface area of 53 hectares of vineyards, distributed in the municipalities of Castiglione Falletto, Serralunga d'Alba, Monforte d'Alba, Barolo, Novello, La Morra, Verduno, Grinzane Cavour and Vezza d'Alba.
