Description | Great producer, among the best in the champenois. A tradition of excellence handed down and kept intact from father to son. Old plants, exaltation of Chardonnay in an area suited to Pinot Noir, wise use of wood, no malolactic and great longevity of champagnes even in the "basic" products. The Grand Cellier 1er Cru is the "high-end" Champagne sans année, the most representative wine of Vilmart as it is strongly focused on Chardonnay. Grapes from plants at least 30 years old, vinification and subsequent 10 months of refinement in 50hl barrels, no malolactic and at least two years on the yeasts. Produced with at least 50% vintage wine (2016) and 50% wines from 2015 and 2014. Dosage at 8g/l. Initially created in 1975 by René Champs, and produced annually in approximately 30,000 bottles. Disgorgement April 2022 A wine that represents the bond between Vilmart and Chardonnay, a great example of how a sans année can defy time without being affected in the slightest! |
Grapes used | 70% Chardonnay and 30% Pinot Noir |
Origin and Name | France - Rilly-la-Montagne Champagne AOC Premier Cru |
Organoleptic examination |
Straw yellow with golden and greenish reflections. This wine develops an elegant and long-lasting foam. The nose immediately perceives hints of white flowers, citrus as well as fresh butter and cream. The wine reveals spicy notes of ginger that were unexpected until then. The palate is lively with a delicate effervescence. The wine's frank vinosity (round and alcoholic) gives an impression of strength and freshness. The wine appears both broad and tight. This varied sensation produces a creamy and pure structure to the wine. The finish is clean, slightly mineral and long. |
