Conterno Giacomo
Conterno Giacomo - Barolo DOCG 'France' 2017 cl75
Description |
Giacomo Conterno's Barolo "Francia" is a great wine from Piedmont: a majestic expression of the Francia vineyard located in the municipality of Serralunga. A traditional vinification and a maturation of 48 months in large barrels give life to an austere, soft and very structured wine, with intense aromas of red fruit, undergrowth, leather and sweet spices Refinement, complexity, austerity, thickness and elegance weave the plot of this red, suited by its origins to nobility. It is no coincidence, in fact, that Barolo is known throughout the world as 'the King of wines and the wine of Kings'. When tasting expressions like that of Giacomo Conterno, one cannot help but agree with the men who coined this epithet. Giacomo Conterno Barolo “Francia” originates from the vineyard of the same name, located south of Serralunga d'Alba, the same vineyard from which Monfortino is obtained. |
Grapes used | 100% Nebbiolo |
Winemaking | The harvest is preceded by a careful selection already carried out during the pruning phase, which has allowed only one bunch to be left for each shoot. Once brought to the cellar, the grapes are softly pressed and the resulting must is subjected to long macerations that can last up to 30 days. The fermentation phase takes place inside untoasted Austrian wood vats. It is then sent for refinement, inside oak barrels of various sizes, for a period of 48 months. A final stop in the bottle makes it ready for marketing. |
Organoleptic examination | “Francia” Barolo by Giacomo Conterno has a ruby red color, which tends towards garnet tones. Its aroma announces a complexity yet to be discovered: cherry, small berries, licorice, mentholated and toasted notes and a hint of leather. In the mouth it asserts a decisive and powerful character, perfectly managed in an attractive charm. The persistence is almost infinite , like its perspective over time. You just have to let yourself be guided into the depths of the glass. |
