Description
|
The winter season of the 2014 vintage was characterised by a mild climate with slightly higher temperatures than the media. This led to an advance in the budding of all varieties, Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The spring season has presented conditions mild and dry climates which have allowed for good flowering and fruit setting of the plants. The rainy summer has slowed down the veraison and ripening processes, rebalancing itself in part in the first weeks of September, thanks to warm and sunny days. The collection, introduced by a previous green harvest, took place between the second mid-September and early October. It was the first Sangiovese to be aged in barriques, the first modern red wine to be blended with non-traditional varieties (such as Cabernet), and among the first red wines in Chianti Classico to not use white grapes. Tignanello is a milestone. It is produced with a selection of Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.

Winemaking and Refinement |
The delicate defoliation and thinning operations in the vineyard, followed by careful manual selection of the grapes, have guaranteed the vinification of grapes of good quality and varietal identity. During the process of fermentation in truncated cone-shaped tanks, the musts were macerated with extreme attention to the freshness of the perfumes, the extraction of colour and the management of tannins aimed at sweetness and elegance. Once separated the skins from the wine, malolactic fermentation was started in barriques, enhancing the finesse and pleasantness of the aromas. Thus began the aging process which lasted approximately 12-14 months, in French oak barrels and Hungarian, partly new and partly first passage. The different lots, vinified separately according to the variety, They were aged in wood and then assembled a few months before bottling.
