Description | A specialty of the Terlano Winery are the so-called "Rarities", special bottles of aged white wines, matured for at least ten years on the fine lees in pressurized steel tanks. What is most fascinating about these wines is the freshness of their youth, an element that makes this Terlaner extremely compelling, despite its venerable age. The weather conditions of 2011 have forced us to face some serious challenges. In fact, in years with such extreme weather conditions, it is of fundamental importance to know how to identify the right moment for the harvest and this moment varies from vineyard to vineyard. An exceptionally hot and dry April, and a rather summery May, was followed by a June with average temperatures and plenty of rain. A mild spring, which made the buds appear a week earlier than usual. "Thanks also to the ideal autumn climate, all in all the vintage was good to very good," explains winemaker Rudi Kofler. It is a wine that lends itself perfectly to long maturation in the bottle. Bottling date: August 25, 2023 Bottles produced: 3,500 Terlano has a terroir that is very congenial to great white wines, and these Rarities are the most tangible proof of this." Rudi Kofler |
