The San Leonardo 2021 is the signature wine of Tenuta San Leonardo, a historic winery located in the Vallagarina valley, in the heart of Trentino. The estate preserves an ancient tradition and a unique territory, where the alpine climate and the influence of the nearby Lake Garda help create favorable conditions for quality viticulture.

Created in 1982 from the winemaking project of Marchese Carlo Guerrieri Gonzaga, San Leonardo interprets the model of great Bordeaux blends with a sensibility deeply rooted in the Trentino territory. The blend combines 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Carmenère, and 10% Merlot, with each variety vinified separately to preserve its identity and characteristics before the final blending.

The 2021 vintage is distinguished by the balance and ripeness of the grapes. Spontaneous fermentation takes place in small concrete tanks, with maceration on the skins for approximately 12–15 days, along with pump-overs and délestage. The wine then ages for 24 months in wood, with 70% in barriques and 30% in French oak tonneaux, before further rest in the bottle.

In the glass, it appears intense and complex, with aromas of wild berries, black cherry, and plum, accompanied by balsamic nuances, aromatic herbs, tobacco, and forest floor. On the palate, it reveals structure and depth, supported by a refined tannic structure and a freshness that brings balance to the tasting. The finish is long, persistent, and elegant.
