Arnaldo Caprai
One of the most famous wineries in Umbria, a true winemaking reference point in Montefalco, recognized for its production of great red wines in particular.
It was founded in 1971 by Arnaldo Caprai, a textile entrepreneur who understood the potential of those lands, and in particular of Sagrantino, a grape variety that had remained in the shadow of the winemaking panorama.
Together with his son Marco, at the end of the 80s, also thanks to great personalities and professionals in the sector, they will make the Caprai winery the flagship and undisputed protagonist of his land . The great vintage of 1993 represents the pinnacle of all Marco's work and efforts, making him enter the ranks of the greatest Italian producers.
Today the Arnaldo Caprai winery and Sagrantino di Montefalco are almost synonymous. Thanks to the great popularity achieved throughout the world, many producers have followed the example of this important production reality and Sagrantino has rightfully entered the podium of the great reds of Italy. This winery has demonstrated how an ambitious dream could be transformed, by virtue of the deep bond with the history and the particularities of the territory, into high quality bottles , which also include expressions of Montefalco Rosso and Grechetto.
