Description |
Montefalco Rosso is one of the wines produced by the Caprai winery, a production company that, in just over forty years, has managed to establish itself as a point of reference in Umbria and throughout the Italian peninsula. In the beginning, at the beginning of the 70s, it was Arnaldo Caprai, a renowned textile entrepreneur with the dream of one day being able to walk among the rows of his own vineyard, who glimpsed the potential of the terroir surrounding the small town of Montefalco. A territory that today, after a few decades, under the careful guidance of his son Marco and thanks to constant work made of research, investments and experimentation, manages to express truly noteworthy red wines , just like this Montefalco Rosso. |
Vinification and refinement |
The Rosso Montefalco wine is born from a careful selection of Sangiovese, to which is added, in equal measure, a small percentage of the local Sagrantino and Merlot vines. The grapes, after a meticulous harvest, vinify in steel, and then refine for 12 months in barrique , both Slavonian oak and French oak. After bottling, a further maturation in glass follows, for at least 4 months, to reach the right evolutionary development before being put on the market.

Organoleptic examination |
The Montefalco Rosso Caprai presents itself to the eye with a ruby red color, dark and deep, not very transparent. The nose highlights a succession of fruity and floral notes , embellished with spicy touches deriving from the maturation in wood. On the palate it has an excellent body, round, with a well-defined tannic texture and a sip of pleasant freshness . The ideal label to begin taking the first steps into the universe of great red wines produced by the prestigious Caprai winery.
