Grappa

Grappa is the only distillate obtained from a solid raw material (the grape marc, the residue from the pressing of wine grapes), whose exclusive paternity belongs to Italy.
Leaving aside legislation and alchemical principles, the definition that best describes grappa is by Carlo Cambi, who takes up a phrase by Mario Soldati and says: "If wine is the poetry of the earth, grappa is its soul."
