Chiara Condello
Chiara Condello - The Fireflies Romagna Sangiovese Predappio Riserva DOC 2020 cl75 BIO
Description | Wines that are born from Chiara's awareness of being the custodian of a history of viticulture that has been written and handed down for hundreds of years in the hills of Predappio and from the desire to give a somewhat revolutionary interpretation to this unique, generous and disputed land. The idea of producing a wine that expresses the high potential of these vineyards, freeing it from everything superfluous, a Sangiovese that reflects it and in which to find and put into practice one's own ideas. Chiara Condello has chosen a small plot of land on the edge of the forest, in the centre of the Predappio denomination, facing east, at 250 metres above sea level, where the vines sink their roots into poor soil, of calcareous-clayey origin and rich in tuffaceous sandstone rocks of Pliocene origin called Spungone. He followed a simple path: organic viticulture, attention and respect for plants and soil, manual processing, organic fertilization, mechanical weeding and treatments carried out only with a very low use of sulfur and copper. In the cellar, work is governed by the principle of respect for the grapes and the timing that Sangiovese requires. This wine comes from a parcel of less than one hectare, planted with Sangiovese, approximately 5000 vines trained using the spurred cordon system. Wine produced in limited quantities: 4000 bottles and 200 magnums. The label of this cru "Le Lucciole" is designed by the artist Francesca Ballarini with whom Chiara Condello collaborates to tell a different story every year, just as all the vintages are different and unique. |
