Fattoria del Cerro, with its 93 hectares registered in the Register of Vino Nobile, is the largest private producer of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano in the province of Siena. The breadth and variety of its exhibition vineyards therefore guarantee the possibility of selecting, depending on the year, the best grapes to produce high quality wines. The Prugnolo Gentile, the most important grape variety in this area, is a Sangiovese that over the centuries has adapted to the typical soil and climate of the area.
The most classic wine and the most famous product of Fattoria del Cerro obtained from excellent quality grapes and subjected to a long and expert refinement in wood allow to obtain a harmonious and balanced red, with rich and complex aromas and a pleasantly smooth sip. It is a wine that conquers with its beautiful notes of red fruit enriched by delicately spicy and toasted nuances. Vinification and Refinement |
At the end of the harvest, fermentation takes place in steel tanks at a controlled temperature (24°- 268° C) with maceration on the skins. Daily pumping over and délestage are carried out. After racking, the wine continues its refinement in oak barrels where it will undergo malolactic fermentation and will remain for at least 18 months. |
Tasting Notes |
In the glass it has a rather intense ruby red colour. On the nose it expresses an elegant bouquet, with aromas of ripe cherry, dark berries, hints of spices, notes of dark chocolate and light toasted nuances. On the palate it is medium-bodied, with an intense fruity sip and evolved tannins. The finish is long and lively fresh. A wine of great typicality, perfect for getting to know the authentic face of Montepulciano.
Excellent paired with appetizers, first courses seasoned with meat sauces, stuffed pasta, second courses of grilled or stewed red meats. |
