Description

The Mediterranean climate, the “terroir” of Montalcino, the nobility of Merlot, Cabernet and Syrah, the knowledge and passion of those who have always cared for the vineyards from which the wine is born. This is how Nearco was born.

On the moderate slope of the south-facing hills of Montalcino, surrounded by the austere vineyards of Brunello, you can find the plot dedicated to the international varieties that make Tuscan reds so famous. A true “cru”, where Merlot, Cabernet and Syrah have found the ideal conditions for development to express their renowned class to the best of their potential.

NEARCO is vinified with these grapes, assembled with awareness and aged for eighteen months in barrique: a new wine of great impact and structure, where the delicacy of the Merlot marries perfectly with the power of the Cabernet and the spicy fruit of the Syrah.

The mild winter accelerated the start of the growing season, which was then slowed down by the abundant spring rains, bringing everything back to normal. From the second ten days of June, and throughout the month of July, there was a gradual and beneficial rise in temperatures. This was followed by an August with significant temperature ranges and no rain, optimal conditions for the perfect ripening of the grapes.

Produced:
750ml Bordeaux: 25,894 bottles
1.5 liter Magnum: 250 bottles

Origin

Montalcino, Sant'Angelo hill, the hill overlooking the Orcia River. Medium-textured soils with the presence of limestone pebbles, hilly with a south-south-west orientation.

Grapes

All grapes from our own vineyards: 55% Merlot, 20% Petit Verdot, 15% Syrah, 10% Cabernet. The choice during the harvest is based on the search for a balanced maturity for all the varieties except for Syrah where a slight over-ripening is preferred to increase the complexity of the wine.

Winemaking

Separate fermentation of the varieties in steel vats. Maceration lasts about 20 days at a controlled temperature. Malolactic in cement tanks. First racking directly into barriques and tonneaux in June 2017.

Aging

Separate wine aging by variety and batch for 12 months in French oak barriques. To enhance the fruit, the Merlot cultivar is refined in 500-liter French oak tonneaux. No racking was performed until the final assembly (completed at the end of May 2018). Stability was obtained in barriques during the winter by subjecting the product to seasonal cold to obtain a clear wine with a natural method. Bottling was followed by bottle aging.

Color Intense ruby red, with brilliant purple reflections.

Olfactory sensations
On the nose it is intense and harmonious, with notes of ripe fruit, such as blackcurrant and blackberry, which blend perfectly with the spices and vanilla released by the wood.
