Description A specialty of the Terlano Winery are the so-called "Rarities", special bottles of aged white wines, matured for at least ten years on the fine lees in pressurized steel tanks.
What is most fascinating about these wines is the freshness of their youth, an element that makes this Terlaner extremely compelling, despite its venerable age.

The 2009 vintage was characterized by a regular climatic trend. The extremely mild spring favored an early flowering. This phenomenon, combined with the excellent climatic conditions in the summer period, required an early harvest of about 2 weeks compared to the 2008 harvest. In September, the continuation of a favorable meteorological stability allowed us to continue with the harvesting operations based on the phenolic maturity of the different vines and to bring very healthy and perfectly ripe grapes to the cellar. Premises that gave life to wines of notable harmony, strength and elegance.
The Pinot Blanc grapes from the 5 plots in the “Vorberg” area were considered the best of the year, so much so that they were selected for the 2009 Rarity. “Vorberg” is the toponym used to indicate the steep slopes overlooking the village, between 550 and 600 metres above sea level, which allowed the harvest to begin from 25 September to 3 October when the grapes had reached the zenith of quality.

It is a wine that lends itself perfectly to long maturation in the bottle.

Terlano has a terroir that is very congenial to great white wines, and these Rarities are the most tangible proof of this."
Rudi Kofler
Grapes used 100% Pinot Blanc
Winemaking technique Manual harvest and selection. Gentle pressing of whole bunches and racking by natural sedimentation. Slow fermentation at controlled temperature in steel tanks.
Refinement Malolactic fermentation and aging for 12 months on fine yeasts in large wooden barrels. Aged for 11 years on fine yeasts in steel tanks.
Origin Trentino - South Tyrol
Color light and bright straw yellow with faint greenish reflections
Perfume The bouquet is surprising, and with each new attempt it reveals new olfactory components. Notes of herbs such as chamomile, lemon balm and lovage, are accompanied by hints of persimmon and dried apricot. But in the wide olfactory panorama of this Rarity there is no lack of notes of bread crust and leavened dough, accompanied by aromas of flint.
Taste On the palate this wine is soft and powerful, with a vigorous and lively acidity, which however leaves a refined taste in the mouth, ideally integrating the mineral notes. The aftertaste is soft and elegant, but extremely full and deep.
Graduation 14.0% vol.
Serving temperature 10/12 °C
