Description Historic vintage, the second to be included in the Top 100 selection by WineSpectator, to be precise it won the 76th position.
According to critics, this wine is ready to drink now but with possible evolutions until 2023.
Great red wine. It takes its name from Montepulciano, a Renaissance city in the province of Siena that dominates the wide and green Valdichiana from the top of a hill. The name "Nobile" seems to derive not only from its intrinsic qualities of finesse and elegance, but also from the fact that in the past the production of this wine was particularly cared for by the noble families of the city.
Grapes used Minimum 70% Sangiovese (Prugnolo Gentile) and no more than 30% between Canaiolo and other authorized varieties. All the grapes come from our vineyards located in splendid positions, mainly exposed to south-south-east with a slight slope and high sunshine.
Winemaking techniques Fermentation with maceration of the skins in the must for a period of 10-15 days at a temperature constantly maintained at 25-30 °C. Frequent pumping over, carried out by the cellar staff with the aid of special pumps with the utmost respect for the solid parts (marc and grape seeds).
Aging Placed for 2 years in oval Slavonian oak barrels with a capacity of 5,500 litres and in 225 litre French oak barrels.
Refinement In bottles for a minimum of 6 months. Marketing, however, always begins one year later than the terms established by the production specifications.
Color Ruby red tending towards garnet; brilliant.
Perfume Ethereal, characteristic, extraordinarily elegant, with a light hint of violet and fine wood.
Taste A rich and powerful style, it evokes flavours of black cherry, blackcurrant, plum, leather and tar.
Balanced and ready to enjoy, with persistent accents of spice and tobacco.
Graduation 13.5% vol.
Serving temperature 20 °C in decanter.
Food pairings Game, especially wild boar, mature cheeses of great class.
