Tenuta San Leonardo

San Leonardo Estate

Nestled like a precious stone in Vallagarina, between woods and mountains, Tenuta San Leonardo covers 300 hectares of land, 30 of which are cultivated with vineyards, home to Cabernet, Carmenère, Merlot, Sauvignon and Riesling. Its origins date back more than a thousand years , when the estate was founded by the Archbishop's Curia and entrusted to the Crociferi Friars, who inaugurated viticulture in the area. Since the 17th century, the noble De Gresti family has supported the friars in managing the estate and, after purchasing it from the Church, left it as an inheritance to the Guerrieri Gonzaga. Today, Tenuta San Leonardo is run with passion and enthusiasm by the Marquis Carlo Guerrieri Gonzaga together with his son Anselmo, his right-hand man Luigino Tinelli and the oenologist Carlo Ferrini.

The wines of Tenuta San Leonardo come from the lands surrounding the prestigious Villa Gresti, enclosed by walls, to which is added a vineyard located in Roveré della Luna, cultivated with Sauvignon and surrounded by 270 hectares of woodland. Recently all the lands of the Tenuta have been converted to organic farming , to preserve the precious ecosystem and to allow nature to express itself at its best: "The land is the soul of our profession" Carlo Guerrieri loves to repeat.

The Marquis Guerrieri Gonzaga has had the merit of having written, from the 70s to today, the history of quality wine in Trentino, bringing the regional wine production to previously unimaginable levels. San Leonardo is one of the most celebrated Italian reds, among the pioneers of the Bordeaux style in Italy . But even the most recent labels have demonstrated a charismatic character and achieve, year after year, excellent performances, remaining faithful to an international style marked by elegance and impeccable balance.

The result of the sum of all this is given by wines that stand out for their finesse and elegance, vibrant and decisive reds and whites, literally capable of moving. From the “San Leonardo” to its sister labels, each bottle that comes out of the Borghetto all'Adige estate contains the truest and best essence of a territory capable of giving enormous oenological satisfaction.
