Cantine Colosi

Colosi Cellars

IN SALINA, IN THE VOLCANIC ARCHIPELAGO OF THE AEOLIAN ISLANDS...
WHEN WINE IS
LIGHT, FRAGRANCE, HEAT

In the 70s Pietro Colosi worked alongside Carlo Hauner : the two shared not only a great friendship, but also a love for the island's wines.

Thirty years ago, in 1987, Piero, Pietro's son, began to follow in his father's footsteps after completing his studies in oenology, and immediately gave new impetus to the spread of Colosi wines throughout the world. Today we are in the third generation with the entry of his son Pietro alongside his father and mother Lidia, supporting them in the management of all the activities of a company that has now grown and is solid.

Salina
, a small island in the Aeolian archipelago , is a land highly suited to the cultivation of vines. In this corner of paradise among the scents of the Mediterranean scrub and breathtaking views, the Colosi family has been cultivating vineyards on suggestive terraces overlooking the sea for over 40 years and produces unique wines that tell of light, wind, sun, color.
The farm, with its 10 hectares of vineyards between Capo Faro and Porri, is among the most representative producers on the island of Salina . The area is considered among the best both for its exposure and for the chemical-physical nature of the volcanic soil.
The vineyards were built on terraces by restoring the old dry stone walls and include the typical vines of Mediterranean island viticulture: Corinto Nero , Nerello Cappuccio , Nerello Mascalese , Inzolia , Catarratto and Malvasia .
The latter, without a doubt, represents the main grape variety of all the wine production of the territory and of the Colosi company.

Exclusively native wines, typical not only of the Aeolian archipelago, but also of the Sicilian territory; 35 hectares of vineyards in Marsala for the whites: Grillo, Insolia, Cataratto and Zibibbo ; and over 55 between Mazara and Riesi for the reds: Nero D'Avola, Nerello Cappuccio, Nerello Mascalese , thus guaranteeing the company a highly prized production that is strongly linked to the territory.
The Colosi winemaking cellar is literally immersed in the vineyards, partially buried in order to comply with the strict regulations that protect the territory and the landscape environment of the Aeolian archipelago. This location allows for maintaining a constant temperature, suitable for optimal wine conservation.
