Description VINTAGE 2018

2018 was a warm, continental and truly
unique. The summer has broken numerous historical records in terms
of heat, drought and presence of sun. Result: Pinot noir
with a magnificent grain and texture, of the Chardonnays
dense and saline if harvested when sufficiently ripe and
of the Meuniers with an intense fruitiness.

This is the new, original blending idea from Maison Louis Roederer, created to realize the process of converting the vineyards to biodynamics undertaken 20 years ago. It is an evolutionary Brut sans année, which benefits from the effects of climate change; a tribute to the reserve wines and the best estate vineyards. Each cuvée is numbered progressively, 243 representing the number of harvests made in the history of the Maison, founded in 1776. The blending of each Collection is based on the grapes of a single vintage.

Tasting Notes

Bright gold color with iridescent reflections.
Fine and dynamic effervescence, prolonged by a very persistent perlage.
Immediate bouquet, wide and pleasantly fresh. A triumph of ripe but delicate fruits in which we find with precision the yellow fruits (mirabelle plum) of the Pinot noir and the sugary citrus fruits (lemon cake), the scents of delicate white flowers (jasmine) of the Chardonnay. After a few minutes, notes of autolysis appear, with smoky hints and lightly toasted pastry.
Dense, deep palate, rich and structured texture. The texture intrigues while the full-bodied Pinot Noir material floats in the mouth and lingers with immense saline freshness and a hint of bitterness. This wine combines the strength, intensity and power of the Pinot Noir with masterful maturity, deliciously balanced by the chalky freshness and density of the Chardonnays that dominate this blend.
