Luce is the first wine to be produced from a blend of Sangiovese and Merlot in Montalcino.
It was thanks to the collaboration of the Marchesi de' Frescobaldi and Robert Mondavi families that the idea of combining the roundness and softness of Merlot with the structure and elegance of Sangiovese was born.
Since 2005, the responsibility has passed entirely into the hands of Lamberto Frescobaldi who continues to write the history of Luce, a Super Tuscan wine. appreciated throughout the world, dedicating himself to it with great passion and directing its production orientations, from the vineyard to the creation of the blends of each vintage.
The rains at the beginning of 2018 managed to rebalance the water reserves that had been put to the test with the 2017 vintage. This allowed the vines to sprout quickly and homogeneously, also favored by the mild spring temperatures. The summer was characterized by a dry climate and without excessive temperatures: ideal conditions to maintain an excellent vegetative-productive balance and guarantee the perfect growth of the grapes. The north wind and the sunny days of September allowed the grape ripening process to be completed in the best possible way.
