Description

Variety originally from Campania, now native to Lazio, imported to the island of Ponza from Ischia in the mid-18th century, at the time of the Kingdom of Naples, under the Bourbons.
Cultivation in Lazio is authorized only on the Pontine Islands.
Here it is born on a small plateau, above which stands the majestic Guardia Lighthouse, built in 1886 on a rock overlooking the sea (at 112 m above sea level).
It is a white light “Rotating Optics” lighthouse, which has a light range of up to 24 nautical miles and a beam angle of 225 degrees, mainly in a southerly direction.
Note that approximately 11 miles southwest from the tip of the Faraglione is the “Tyrrhenian Trench”, where the Tyrrhenian Sea reaches its maximum depth.

A wine that, due to its notable structure and the integrity of the fruit, is also suitable for ageing in the bottle for several years.

Wine produced in limited quantities of approximately 3000 bottles per year.

Winemaking and Refinement
