Description

Il Bruciato is one of the most symbolic and famous wines of the Guado al Tasso winery, owned by the legendary Antinori family. It is a red wine from the prestigious Tuscan area of Bolgheri , obtained from a blend of French vines, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, which reach very high levels of quality in these lands. The name comes from a forest that in the 18th century was completely burned by the inhabitants of the area as a sign of protest against the noble Della Gherardesca family, lords of Bolgheri at the time, who forbade farmers from hunting in it.

Il Bruciato di Guado al Tasso is a full-bodied and intense red wine, aged for 12 months in barrique. It is one of the most famous and renowned expressions in the world, always appreciated for its impeccable qualities. Warm and silky tones let emerge full scents of wild berries, red berries, herbs and balsamic spices

The 2021 vintage in Bolgheri was characterized by a prolonged dry period from June until September. However, unlike 2017, the particularly rainy winter contributed to significantly increasing the water reserves of the deep soils that characterize the territory, providing the vines with the right support throughout the production phase. The spring, generally cool, favored a slight delay in budding and subsequent flowering. Summer temperatures were never excessive, allowing a slow and regular ripening of the grapes in each vineyard with excellent levels of integrity and health.

The harvest began with the Merlot in early September, continued with the Cabernet Franc and Syrah around the middle of the month and concluded with the Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot at the end of September.

Winemaking and Refinement Upon arrival at the cellar, the selected grapes were destemmed and softly pressed.
Fermentation and maceration took place in thermo-conditioned stainless steel tanks for a period of approximately 10-15 days at a temperature of 28-30 °C.
A portion of the Merlot and Syrah musts was kept at lower fermentation temperatures to better preserve the varietal aromas.
Malolactic fermentation took place partly in barriques and partly in stainless steel tanks, and was completed by the end of the year for all varieties.
Subsequently, the Cabernet Sauvignon was joined by Merlot, Syrah, and small quantities of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot: the resulting wine once again met the barrique, where it rested before being bottled.
