Marchesi Antinori
Marchesi Antinori - The Burnt Bolgheri DOC 2022 cl75
Description |
Il Bruciato is one of the most symbolic and famous wines of the Guado al Tasso winery, owned by the legendary Antinori family. It is a red wine from the prestigious Tuscan area of Bolgheri , obtained from a blend of French vines, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, which reach very high levels of quality in these lands. The name comes from a forest that in the 18th century was completely burned by the inhabitants of the area as a sign of protest against the noble Della Gherardesca family, lords of Bolgheri at the time, who forbade farmers from hunting in it. |
Grapes used |
37% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, 18% Cabernet Franc, 17% Syrah, 4% Petit Verdot |
Origin and name |
|
Winemaking and Refinement | Upon arrival at the cellar, the selected grapes were destemmed and softly pressed. Fermentation and maceration took place in thermo-conditioned stainless steel tanks for a period of approximately 10-15 days at a temperature of 28-30 °C. A portion of the Merlot and Syrah musts was kept at lower fermentation temperatures to better preserve the varietal aromas. Malolactic fermentation took place partly in barriques and partly in stainless steel tanks, and was completed by the end of the year for all varieties. Subsequently, the Cabernet Sauvignon was joined by Merlot, Syrah, and small quantities of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot: the resulting wine once again met the barrique, where it rested before being bottled. |
Tasting Notes |
Il Bruciato 2022 presents itself with the usual intense ruby red. Notes of small ripe red fruits prevail on the nose, accompanied by pleasant hints of sweet spices, light menthol sensations and aromas of tobacco. On the palate it is well structured, enveloping and with a pleasant fruity aftertaste that gives it pleasantness of drink and persistence. |
